Lilly "Lois" Marie Brandes-Nelson, 79, passed away at 9:14 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at her home.
She was born Dec. 11, 1939 in Cleveland, OH to Russell and Florence Brandes.
Lois worked as a proofreader for various Midwestern newspapers, retiring from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch after 11 years.
Survivors include her children, Vicki Marie (Clint) Graham of Bertram, TX, Charlene Edwards of Godfrey, Cindy Noble of Clayton, MO, Kerry Charley of St. Louis, Kini (Calvin) Johnson of Hardin, Jackie Nelson, Jr. of Alton, and Jaclyn Nelson of Sterling Heights, MI; 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Fred "Kevin" James Lewis, Jr.; a daughter, Cheryl Charley; a grandson, Lance Noble; and a brother, Kenneth Brandes.
Private services will be held with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Brussels, IL.
