Lila L. Tavernier, 88, died at her home in Godfrey at 2:32 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 after a long battle with cancer.
Born June 23, 1930 in Alton, she was the daughter of Bert and Anna (Maneke) Branham. She was a member of the Community Christian Church in Alton and worked for Owens Illinois Glass for a short time.
On June 12, 1949 she married Owen Lloyd Tavernier in Alton. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters, Venita Young (Ron) of Godfrey and Valerie Furlow (Robert) and companion Bruce Ward of Godfrey, one grandchild, Tavena Hagendorn (Eric), and a sister, Betty Elledge of Brighton.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Branham.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2019 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Pastor Dave Burger will officiate.
Burial will be private at Godfrey Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Community Christian Church in Alton.
