Leonard A. “Butch” Amann, 87, of Marissa, IL, born February 20, 1938, in Belleville, IL, died January 4, 2026, at Coulterville Care Center, Coulterville, IL.
Butch was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL.
Butch was retired from General Motors as a line supervisor on the Chevrolet & GMC truck line, on Natural Bridge Road, St Louis, MO & Wentzville, MO plants. After retirement, he and his late wife Rosann enjoyed traveling to Nashville, TN with friends and spending time with family. Butch was a devoted father & grandfather. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Marissa Masonic Lodge and an Ainad Shriner. He was happiest when riding in his gator checking on his beloved Polled Hereford cattle with his little black poodle, Penny.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the care and compassion provided by the staff at Coulterville Care Center and neighbor, Tyler Sinn.
Surviving are his daughters, Susan (Craig) Brown, Barbara (Michael) Dean, Sharon (David) Green, and Kay (Tommy) Neal; grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer) Brown, Sara (Jacob) Wright, Matthew (Megan) Brown, Taylor Amann, Lauren (Logan) Zirkelbach, Seth Dean, Ashley Green, Hannah Green, and Troy Neal; great-grandchildren, Maggie Brown, Macie Brown, Ella Wright, Luke Wright, Nora Wright, Emmy Brown, Miles Brown, and Lakelynn Zirkelbach; sisters, Ann (Rick) Broadhurst, Dottie (Jim) Normand; sister-in-law, Mary Stagner; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Butch was preceded in death by his wife Rosann and son, Anthony “Tony” Amann; his parents, Leonard Sr. and Florence, (nee Kurtz), Amann; brothers, Robert Amann and Russell Amann and sister, Rae Jean Lotz.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, New Athens, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, New Athens, IL, with Fr. Von Deeke officiating.
Burial will be at St. Agatha Cemetery, New Athens, IL.
