Leo E. Meeden, 77, died at 4:40 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 at St. Sophia Health and Rehab. in Florissant, MO. Born August 1, 1935 in Alton, he was the son of Lynn and Esther (Dehne) Meeden. He served in the U.S. Navy as a fireman from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Meeden accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at Fosterburg Baptist Church. He was a member of Brown Street Baptist Church from 1955 until the present. He worked as a Federal Meat Inspector from 1955-1956. He then worked for Luer Packing Company in Alton from 1957-1960. From 1960-1981 he worked for Hunter Packing Company followed by six months with Rodeo Meat Packing in Arkansas City, Kansas. On September 16, 1960 he married the former Patsy L. Ambrose in Bethalto. She survives. Also surviving is a son, Mark Meeden (Anita) of St. Louis, MO, three daughters, Rhonda Griffin (Steve) of East Alton, Elizabeth Manion (Thomas) of Alton, and Julie Hise (Steve) of Alton, five grandchildren, Ryan Harris, Benjamin and Valerie Griffin, Jarrett and Mikayla Meeden, one brother, John Meeden of Alton, one sister, Mary Noble of Austin, TX, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn and Daniel Meeden. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013. Pastor Paul Mann and Pastor Mike Myers will officiate. Burial will be at Fosterburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Frontline Missions International, P.O. Box 829, Taylors, SC 29687.
