Leland Duncan

Leland M. Duncan, age 91, passed away at 9:37 pm, Monday, October 17, 2011, at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.

He was born on March 10, 1920 in Alton, IL to the late Edwin and Edith (Loker) Duncan.

Leland married Florita “Flo” Hayes on June 12, 1954 in Alton, IL. She survives.

He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He later was employed by the Owens Illinois Glass Company as a mold maker for over 43 years. He was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308, the Alton American Legion post 126, and the Alton Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed Gardening, fishing and raising flowers. He also enjoyed spending winters in Mc Allen, TX, which he did for the last 28 yrs. 

Leland is survived by his wife Florita “Flo”, two sisters’ Theresa Overath of Wilsonville, IL, and Floy and her spouse David Cover of Highland Springs, VA, and one brother Donald Duncan of Alton, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Marvin Duncan.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10 am, with the Rev. Don Long officiating.

Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton, IL, where military rites will be conducted by the Alton VFW Post 1308.
