Leah Stephenson

Hello All, Leah JoAnn (McCormick/Miller) Stephenson here.

Just letting everyone know that on the warm and sunny afternoon of March 20, 2026, I took my Heavenly flight to my eternal home, escorted by my Lord and Savior, Jesus!!
I lived a wonderful life of 91 years, was blessed with four incredible children, Deborah (Laren) Gray, Cathy (former spouse, Carl) Blackwood, Toni (Monte) Anderson, and Timothy (Melissa) Miller. Yes, I did have a favorite, but that knowledge took flight with me!

I was also incredibly blessed with 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy and laughter to my life. Even when I couldn't lay eyes on them, I relished in their pictures, videos, and stories of their daily lives and achievements. In addition to my immense love for my two-legged family, my heart was also filled with love and joy for many four-legged, furry children. In my opinion, the unconditional love of an animal is something everyone should have the opportunity to experience.

I adored my parents, Lee and Effie McCormick, as well as my brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Shirley McCormick, and Ben and Norma McCormick, all who soared to Heaven before me. I wasn't sure how I felt about that until I got here, but now I clearly understand they were just making sure everything was perfect for me when I arrived, and oh, how magnificently perfect it is!!

Along with raising my kiddos, I had a long and fulfilling career, the majority of it in the mortgage industry, always learning, and making new friends. Once I retired and this old body started to slow down, I decided that taking care of a house and all that comes with it just wasn't fun anymore, so I moved into a wonderful retirement community. I made so many dear friends, enjoyed things I hadn't had time to in years, and lived a life of zero stress, leisure, unlimited ice cream, and just plain relaxation. One of the best decisions I've ever made.

Well, I could go on and on, but you get the picture, I had a beautiful life. Of course there were heartaches along the way. I lost my precious daughter Cathy way too soon, as well as the two great loves of my life, but those times make us stronger because they draw us closer to our Lord. So for those of you I leave behind, remember that I love you, laugh every day, love fiercely, take care of each other, and don't weep with sorrow for me. I finished my race and heard the words I waited to hear my entire life, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

I must go now, I must find my daughter, then I have so many necks to hug, and so many sites to see, but I promise to save you a seat at the table, and never forget, I will live forever in your hearts!!
