Lawrence Chevalley

Lawrence Logan Chevalley, 53, died suddenly at 6:21 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Alton on Dec. 10, 1958, and was the son of the late Robert & Imogene (Logan) Chevalley.Raised in Chautauqua, Il, he graduated in 1977 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville,  and married his high school sweetheart, the former Evelyn Kraushaar of Otterville on Feb. 27, 1979 at the First Congregational Church in Alton.  Together they haved shared 32 years together and shared in the joys of their two daughters and three granddaughters.He was a machinist by trade and had worked at Al-Co in St. Louis, Mo., and Puhlmann Manufacturing in Chesterfield, Mo., and has been employed at Olin Corp. for the last 12 years.Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Chevalley of Otterville; a daughter and son in law, Michelle & Mark Heitzman of Otterville; three granddaughters, Brittany, Autumn and Stephanie; a brother & sister in law, Thomas & Julia Chevalley of Brighton; and his father in law & mother in law, Clifford & Marilyn Kraushaar of Otterville.He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved daughter, Jessica Louise Chevalley on Aug. 13, 2011.At his request, cremation rites have been accorded.A Memorial visitation will take place from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of memorial services at 11 a.m. at the Eastland Baptist Church in Jerseyville.  Rev. John Gibson will officiate.Memorials may be given to his family in care of Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
