Lawrence W. Dustmann, 94, passed away at 6:58 am Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton under the care of St. Anthony Hospice.


He was born on April 5, 1919 in Prairietown, IL, the son of Alfred and Gertrude (Henke) Dustmann. 

He married Winona E. Dugger on May 6, 1947 in Jacksonville, IL.  She passed away on September 17, 2010.

Lawrence was a welder for Illinois Power for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church and the Bethalto Masonic Lodge #406.  He enjoyed gardening and woodworking, especially making wooden toys.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Kay & John Suessen of Bethalto and Mary Lou & Don Stephenson of Bethalto; four grandchildren, Aaron Suessen and his wife, Jennifer, Leah (Suessen) Brueckner and her husband Matt, Jessica (Suessen) Brueckner and her husband Bradley, and Bart Stephenson; seven great grandchildren, Madelyn, Meredith, Miles, Abigail, Grant, Gavin and Nora Brueckner and a sister-in-law, Lucille Dustmann of Bethalto.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilfred Dustmann.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 pm Sunday September 29, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday September 30, 2013 at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Rayson officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Bethalto United Methodist Church Building Fund.

The family would like to extend thanks to all the staff at Rosewood Care Center in Alton for their sincere kindness and generosity shown to Mr. Dustmann during his stay there.
