Lawrence Klunk

Lawrence “Bob” R. Klunk, was called to Heaven at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born on October 11, 1933, in Decatur, IL, the son of the late Lawrence and Gleada (Beckman) Klunk.

Bob married Carole Fox on December 20, 1991 in Jerseyville, IL and had recently celebrated 25 years of marriage. He was also married to his former wife, Martha Droege.

Bob served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper and then worked as an inspector for McDonnell Douglas for 20 years, retiring in 1977. He also was employed at Jersey County Grain in Hardin, IL from 1978 to 1996. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Michael and a member of the Hardin Knights of Columbus, where he served as a past grand knight. Bob was an avid hunter, he loved canning, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. He loved to travel with his wife and family and loved his dogs, especially Daisy. He also was a huge Nascar fan and went to the Indy 500 every year, He loved to play solitare and working crossword puzzles

In addition to his wife Carole, survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law; Rick (Wanda) Klunk of Stevenson, VA, Bobby Joe (Tonya) Klunk of Michael, IL, Billy (Debbie) Klunk of Jerseyville, IL; Daughter Cindy Klunk LaBeau of Hamburg, IL; 9 Grandchildren Angie (Leif) Sundberg, Jennifer (Donald) Robertson, Jonie (Andy) Dunkum, Robert (Christina) Klunk, Abby Klunk, Sophie Klunk, Travis (Janine) Hagen, Ashley Klunk, and Christopher Klunk; 9 Great children, Abigail, Jacob, Allison, Caden, Addison, Kailey, Katie, Ruby, and Jack; 2 Stepdaughters, Becky Bailey of Brussels and Michele (Alan) Brady of Cape Coral, FL; 3 step-grandchildren, Kayla (Ben) Pohlman, Hannah Wade, and Alicia Brady.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017, at Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin. Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be held at 7:30.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Michael with Fr. Don Roberts officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Michael with Kampsville American Legion post conducting full military rights.

Memorials may be made to Calhoun Ambulance or Family choice.
