LaVerne Hoedebeck, 97 of O’Fallon, Missouri and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Delmar Gardens in O’Fallon.
LaVerne was born on May 29, 1922 in Granite City, Illinois; the daughter of the late David and Verda (Miles) Gatlin. Before LaVerne started her family, she began her working career at The Commonwealth and later on at Famous Barr’s Bridal Registry. LaVerne was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Granite City and a lifelong mom who adored taking care of her family. LaVerne will be remembered for her giving heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
LaVerne is survived by and will be missed by her children; Anita and Larry Frazier of St. Charles, MO, Marti and David Poertner of Brentwood, TN, Keith Hoedebeck of Granite City, IL, Kevin and Gail Hoedebeck of Howell, MI; grandchildren, Patrick and Natalie Frazier, Lauren and Shawn Schnetzler, Joshua Poertner and Bobbi Byrne, Brian Hoedebeck, Christine Harris, Julie Hoedebeck, Lanelle and Jere Heuer, Renae and Larry Voight, Ryan Hoedebeck; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and many other close family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Hoedebeck.
In celebration of LaVerne’s life, visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City with Pastor Mike Rayson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to First United Presbyterian Church, 2160 Delmar Ave. in Granite City.
