Lauretta Marie Alexander, 98, passed away peacefully at 5:05 am Thursday October 6 at Willow Rose Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville.
Lauretta was born August 8th, 1918 in Jersey County to John and Elizabeth (Piper) Jilek, the only daughter out of three children. She married Ray E. Alexander March 21, 1938 in St. Charles, MO and they shared 65 wonderful years, and 5 children, until his passing January 12, 2004. She was a Homemaker and a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville.
Lauretta is survived by her 5 children: Joyce (Terry) Traub of Carrollton, IL; Ray E. Alexander, Jr. of Gilbert, AZ; Robert (Martha) Alexander of Jerseyville, IL; Jane (Scooter) Jackson of Jerseyville, IL; and Jean (Kenneth) Lynch of Tallahassee, FL; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister-in-law Dolores Jilek of Fieldon, IL.
Lauretta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers: Herbert and Harold Jilek, sister-in-law Doris Jilek, and great-granddaughter Caitlyn Bishop
Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville and Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father John Patrick Day, C.P. at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Memorials may be made in the form of Masses. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fieldon.
