Laura Michele Whorl, 59, of East Alton, passed away at 3:46 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2024 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
Laura was born October 31, 1964 in Alton. She was a daughter of the late Gerald Eugene Whorl and Nellie May (Abbott) Whorl, Goodman.
She and her lifelong companion Tracy Bartholomew had 33 years together. He sadly passed away on February 25, 2015. She later met Tim Williams of East Alton, they have been companions for several years. He survives.
Laura was a homemaker and loved her grandchildren dearly. Some of her favorite things to do was Karaoke, making funny faces, playing games, watching wrestling, loving animals and she was a big Elvis fan.
Survivors include her daughter Kristy Croy and her husband Aaron of Granite City; 3 grandchildren, Dillon Duncan of Alton, Marissa Crandall of St. Peters, MO, Larissa Crandall of St. Peters, MO; one sister, Cynthia Whorl and Glen Richards of Alton; one brother, Daniel Whorl and Kate Ashlock of Alton; nieces, Rachel Patterson, EL Ashlock; nephews, Aaron Ashlock, Jacob Wallace, Brandon Wallace; great nieces and nephews, Kandise Hardy, John Hardy, Lashawn Hardy, Zyanna Hardy, Tyjuan Stewart.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents and Tracy.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River, where services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Gray officiating.
Burial will be private.
Memorials may be given to the animal shelter of one’s choice.
