Laura E. Schlaefer, age 44, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on September 15, 1981, in Belleville, IL, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
Laura was a 1999 graduate of Belleville East High School. She graduated from SIU-E in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Laura started having numerous health issues when she was three weeks old but was an amazing young lady. Her first job was as a summer camp counselor with Fairview Heights Parks and Recreation. Throughout her life, she worked for a variety of different employers, but mostly working with autistic children.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Herman K. Springer, Betty L. Miller, nee Tozer, and Thomas and Lela, nee Miller Randant.
Laura is survived by her parents, Stephen M., and Martha A., nee Randant Springer; her sister, Jennifer L. (Joseph R.) Stines; her nephew, Jackson R. Stines; her uncle, James R. (Darla) Randant; her aunt, Joanne Randant; her uncle, Patrick K. (Gail) Springer, and her aunt, Pamela G. Bone.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Illinois Center for Autism or to the Holy Trinity Church Building Fund.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
