Laura M. Nelson, 100, died at 5:30am, Thursday November 27, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Alton. Born July 25, 1914 in Grafton, she was the daughter of the late George Gilmore and Ida Mae (Gray). She married the late Earl Holmes Nelson in Alton in 1989. She worked as a cook in different restaurants as well as in loading department at Olin.
Surviving is a daughter; Dorothy L. Bock of Alton, and a son; Gary Coombes (Kathy) of E. Alton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a husband and 2 daughters; Marjorie Mahwee and Norma Stricker, 2 sons; Joseph Brown and Logan “Paul” Brown.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00pm Monday December 1, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor Aaron Love officiating.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials will be given to Brown St. Baptist Church or The Salvation Army.
