Larry Joe Grove

Larry Joe Grove, 62, passed away at 10 AM Sunday May 16, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born on June 2, 1947 in Alton, IL, the son of Wilbur & Wilma (Morten) Grove.

He married Nancy Jacoby on March 30, 1985 in Alton. She survives.

He was a veteran in the US Army.  He worked for Schunck’s Grocery Stores as a meat cutter for over 30 years and retired on January 31, 2010.  He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed listening to the Gaither’s Christian Vocal Group.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Grove of Alton; his mother Wilma Grove of Alton, a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy & David Heine of Branson, MO; a son, Kevin Grove of Alton; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, and twins, Maely & Melissa Heine, one brother and sister-in-law, Rick & Debbie Grove of East Alton; his mother-in-law, Frances Jacoby of Godfrey, brother-in-law, Gary Jacoby of Lake Ozarks, MO sister-in-law, Diana Hawk of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy & Debbie Jacoby of O’Fallon, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three infant children, Jill, Ryan and Scott Grove, his father, Wilbur Grove; and his father-in-law, Kenneth Jacoby.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday May19, 2010 at the Greater Alton Church in East Alton where funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, May 20, 2010 with Rev. Tim Gill and Rev. Robert Cox officiating.

Burial will be private at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grove family memorial fund at US Bank  (Upper Alton) for medical expenses.
