Larry Clowers

Larry Ervin Clowers, 89, of Belleview, IL passed away Sunday evening (3-15-26) at the Eastside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield surrounded by his family.

Larry was born May 8, 1936 in Mozier, a son of Milo E. and Violet Louise Jones Clowers. He married Corneil E. “Kitty” Ringhausen on October 11, 1958 at the Hardin Presbyterian Church and Kitty passed away on March 11, 2022. He later married Donna M. Bott Guthrie and she survives.

Larry was employed as an operating engineer by Union Local 520 where he was a member for over sixty years and he still enjoyed operating various pieces of equipment on his farm when he was able. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Larry was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and was a member of the Kampsville American Legion Post. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Donna M. Clowers of Belleview, three children, Mark Clowers of rural Nebo, Delanda (Mike) Smith of Pleasant Hill and Mitch (Terri) Clowers of Mozier, eight grandchildren, Marcus Clowers, Blake Clowers, Morgan Hill, Brock Hill, Tyler Hill, Jonathon Moyers, Alli Clowers and Rachel Clowers, fifteen great grandchildren, two sisters, Diane (Jerry) Rodhouse of Pleasant Hill and Connie Becker of Godfrey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kitty Clowers and by four brothers, Denny, Bill, Jack and Gene Clowers.

Funeral services will be held Friday (3-20-26) at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill conducted by Pastor Michael Thomas. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Summit Grove Cemetery near Kampsville. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Kampsville American Legion Post or to First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill.
