Kyle J. Steiner Sr., 66, passed away suddenly August 12, 2016 at his Godfrey farm. Kyle was born March 29, 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl E. Steiner and Mary E. (Hamilton) Steiner as well as three brothers, Eric, Carl Regan, and Robert. All of whom, he deeply missed. Surviving is a brother Kim Steiner (Susie) of Pennsylvania. Kyle married Martha E. Chappee February 7, 1970. They have three children and eight grandchildren; Kyle J. Steiner Jr. and his wife Rebecca and their children, Aspen “Appy”, Dakota “Cheeks”, Gage “gage-bob”, and Killian “Dillian”, middle son, Colten C. Steiner and his wife Kelly and their children, Nora “Nora Belle”, and Colten Elek “E-Licker”, and daughter Shana E. Stephenson and her husband Rick and their children, Drake “Hairy” and Regan “Regansky”. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in 2002 after 32 years of service. His strong work ethic continued after retirement on the farm that meant so much to him. Whether tending to his livestock, tinkering in his shop, or lending a helping hand to a friend or family member, Kyle had very little “idle” time. He was very proud of all his children and grandchildren, always making sure they knew that they were his everything. Kyle’s heart was pure, his word was concrete, his will never tired, and his smile would light up a room. He will be deeply missed and his absence will leave a void for many. A visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Immediately following the visitation there will be a celebration of Kyle’s life at the Godfrey KC Hall.
