Kristen Renee Brewer, age 39, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at her home, with her loving family by her side. Kristen was born on May 9, 1984, in Centralia, IL, a daughter of Ann (Shreffler) Brough of Salem, IL and Tom Brough of Salem, IL.

On June 25, 2005, Kristen Brough married Nathan Brewer, the love of her life in Salem, IL. After earning a bachelor’s degree in community health education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, she completed an internship program in dietetics and clinical nutrition at Saint Louis University to become a licensed and registered dietitian.

Kristen was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Maryville, IL. She loved her job as the food service director for the Bethalto School District. Kristen enjoyed reading, playing games, and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Kristen loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, aunt, granddaughter, and a dear friend to many. Kristen will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kristen was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Tom Shreffler.

In addition to her parents, Kristen is survived by her devoted husband, Nathan Brewer of Edwardsville, IL; loving children, Blair and Jonah Brewer of Edwardsville, IL; maternal grandmother, Roberta Shreffler of Salem, IL; brother, Brandon Brough of Arkansas; step-mother, Ilesa Brough of Salem, IL; step-sister, Reanna (Kyle) Smith of Columbia, IL; step-brother, Heath Sill of Kimundy, IL; father and mother-in-law Ken and Joyce Brewer of Salem; sister-in-law Jennifer (Dan) Brosz of Hastings, NE; best friend Jessica Stein, extended family and many dear friends.

In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Maryville, IL. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church, with Pastor Tom Hufty officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to be used for ALS advocacy or children’s education fund. Donations may be given to the family and will be accepted at the church.
