Kimberly Garrett

East Alton |

With profound sadness we announce that Kimberly aka Kmme G, as we all know her by, also by her quick wit and HUGE heart has gained her wings on Saturday, March 2, 2024. She was first a dedicated mother. She loved very hard, the love for her one and only daughter Nikki Skelton (that is just like her) and her husband, Josh, and her grandsons, “her boys” Zane, Trey, and Malcolm, is unmatched. She especially loved her role as a Meme. They are/were her true pride and joys. Kim may not have taken many things seriously but when it came to her babies she didn't play. Her family meant everything to her. If you know, you know. She was always smiling, had a contagious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. She was there for anyone who needed her. She wrote her own rules, she fought authority and she paved her own way. And if you said she couldn’t do it, she would make sure she did. Kim lived life on her own terms. One thing Kim wasn’t shy about, was her love for her food. She was always eating something. She was also a social butterfly who loved to party, listen and dance to the music, play pool, shoot darts and so much more. She was a strong woman who fought her disease with strength and dignity. She very seldom complained. She was always worrying about everyone else. Kim left an impression on everyone she ever met. She passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on September 17, 1963 in Alton, the daughter of Larry and Norma (McDonald) Hanks.

Kimberly is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Joe Lish of Rosewood Heights; her BFF, Tracy Rice of N. Carolina; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Alan.

Visitation will be at held Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 4:00 pm until the time of a Celebration of Life at 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home 2521 Edwards St. Alton, IL  62002.
