Kevin Lee Grimes, aged 67, of Maryville, IL, born on November 2, 1956, in East St. Louis, IL, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

A proud 1974 graduate of Collinsville High School, Kevin committed over 50 years of his life to being the owner/operator of Collinsville Air Conditioning & Heating. His professional drive was balanced with a deep passion for local sports, being a particularly fervent supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues with his loving wife Sandra cheering by his side.

Kevin served as the former governor of the retired Collinsville Moose Lodge, contributing to the well-being of his community locally and nationally through the associated philanthropy. His support extended to St. John United Church of Christ in Collinsville, where he was baptized, later married his loving wife in 1980, stood by and watched both his children, Jacob and Jennifer, get baptized as well as watched his grandchildren, Jordan and Jaxon, get baptized.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Eugene Grimes.

Kevin’s true passion was found in being a father, husband, and friend; never letting a loved one leave the house without coming back for one more hug. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Jean (nee Gower) Grimes of Maryville, IL; his beloved spouse, Sandra, “Sandy” (nee Soulney) of Maryville, IL; his two children, Jacob Lee (Jennifer Rose) of Collinsville, IL, and Jennifer Sue (fiancé Alex David) of St. Louis, MO; and his cherished grandchildren, Jordan and Jaxon. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Richard Soulney of Maryville, IL, with nieces Kelly (Chris) Madura, Ashlen, Danielle, and Samantha; sister-in-law Karlyn Cox of Edwardsville, IL, with niece Carla (Jim) Eilers and nephew Dr. Michael (Mona) Cox. Kevin leaves behind many adored great nieces and nephews, along with numerous treasured cousins and friends.

In accordance with Kevin’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, December 10th, at The Collinsville Recreation Club from 1PM -3PM.

For those who wish to honor Kevin’s memory, in lieu of gifts or flowers, contributions may be made to the Kevin Grimes’ Memorial Go-Fund Me, all proceeds will go to the 529 college fund benefitting Kevin’s grandchildren, set up and managed by Edwards Jones.
