Kerry Pitt

Kerry H. Pitt, 73, passed away at 2:47pm on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.  He was born on October 29, 1944, in White Hall, the son of the late Francis and Iona (Brown) Pitt.  He married the former Barbara Conrad on August 5, 1967, in Alton.  Kerry and Barbara just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.  Other survivors include a daughter and son in law: Kara and Bill Carmack of Roxana, a grandson: Anthony Carmack, a son and daughter in law: Cory and Tara Pitt of Decatur, Illinois, an expectant grandchild, a brother and sister in law: Kevin and Cindy Pitt of Riverview, Florida, a brother in law: Charles “Chuck” Redd of Detroit Michigan, and many other extended family and friends.

Kerry was employed at the Wood River Police Department and Roxana Police Department for ten years as a patrolman.  He then went to work at the Shell Refinery in operations retiring in 2001.  While he was employed at Shell, he was the President of the Shell Recreation Association.  He then started working at startup power plants all over the United States.  He retired from the City of Wood River where he worked in the Building and Zoning Department.  He was on the Board of Directors at Midwest Members Credit Union for twenty – three years prior to becoming the Chairman of the Board in May of 2018.  He was a member of Lovejoy Presbyterian Church in Wood River.  He was a super Pa – Pa to his grandson Anthony.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Sharon and Sherryl and one brother: Francis Jr.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, August 31, 2018, at Lovejoy Presbyterian Church, 2550 Rock Hill Road in Wood River.  Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the church.  Pastor Daniel Ervin will officiate.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lovejoy Presbyterian Church.
