Kerry Bundy

Kerry John Bundy, 70, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, after a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) with his loving wife, Victoria Bundy, by his side.

He was born on July 29, 1955, the eldest child of Melvin and Betty (Phillips) Bundy, in Springfield, Illinois.

Kerry married the love of his life, Victoria Pieper, on February 6, 1993, in Granite City, Illinois.

A proud patriot, Kerry enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, serving 20 years of active duty service. He worked as an electrician while serving, exploring the world aboard ice breakers in the Arctic and lived in various areas of the United States including Alaska. Upon retirement, Kerry and Victoria resided in Granite City, Illinois. Following his military career, he began a second career with Washington University of St. Louis for 22 years before retiring in 2020. Kerry enjoyed reminiscing about his time in the Coast Guard to any and everyone who would listen. His other time was spent attending car shows to see his favorite Mopar cars, collecting antique radios and vintage Bakelite items. His most rewarding role in life was being a husband, father and grandfather to his beloved family.

As well, Kerry’s Catholic faith was very important to him. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City, Illinois and the Knights of Columbus, Granite City Council 1098, 3rd and 4th Degrees. He was also a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Kerry is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Victoria Bundy; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Ryan McCulloch of Chatham, Illinois; a son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Jonathan and Caroline Bundy of Chicago, Illinois; 2 grandchildren Adilene and Willow McCulloch; two sisters Cheryl L. Gleason and Carol A. Boehler both of Springfield, IL; two brothers Kenneth E. Bundy and Karl J. “Jim” (Vicki) of Springfield, IL; 2 brothers-in-law John (Sheree) Pieper and Bill Dallas; and sister-in-law Mary Pieper, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Michael Gleason and Larry Pieper and his sister-in-law, Judith Dallas.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Sean Smith, M.D., the ALS Clinic team at John Cochran VA Medical Center, Washington University ALS Clinic team, and Pathways Hospice for their exceptional care, kindness, and support.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2026, at Irwin Chapel of Glen Carbon, 591 Glen Crossing Rd., Glen Carbon, Illinois, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary and St. Mark Catholic Church, 1621 10th St., Madison, Illinois, with Father Jeff Holtman as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville, Illinois.
