Kent White
Jerseyville | Save
Lloyd Kent White, 76, died at 5:26 a.m., Sunday, May 10, 2026 at his home, following a short and brave battle with cancer.
He was born in Alton, Illinois on July 13, 1949 to the late Lloyd S. and Trulbia (Foster) White and graduated with the Class of 1967 from Jersey Community High School. Following graduation, Kent furthered his education at DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago and, for a brief time, worked at the Stock Exchange in Chicago before ultimately returning home to the community he loved.
He married the former Dorothy “Dottie” Krause on May 23, 1970 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and together they shared nearly 56 years of marriage, devotion and partnership. The early years of their marriage were spent on her family farm near Carrollton before they eventually settled in Jerseyville, where together they raised their two children, Mike and Michelle.
Kent first worked for Ted Hamblin’s Appliance Store in Jerseyville before accepting employment with the United States Postal Service, where he faithfully served the community as a Mail Carrier for many years. Yet, beyond his work, Kent was most defined by the quiet and steady way he cared for those around him.
He was deeply involved in his children’s lives, serving as a Boy Scout Leader and coaching his daughter’s softball teams through the years. He was a talented and gifted woodworker, spending countless hours building and hand-painting pieces that became cherished parts of the holiday season at he and Dottie’s home for more than five decades. Together, they also shared their creations with others through various local craft fairs.
A humble man and truly a man of few words, Kent never sought attention or recognition. He was simply the kind of person who showed up when someone needed help, often without being asked and certainly without expecting anything in return. Alongside Dottie, he devoted much of his time to Charity Works in Jerseyville, quietly helping provide for those in need throughout the community.
Around town, many knew Kent by sight as much as by name, often seeing him driving his green Ford Ranger or making his daily trips to Sinclair’s. Those simple routines became part of the fabric of a life lived faithfully and without pretense.
Following his stroke and even as he battled cancer, Kent’s strength and determination never wavered. Through it all, Dottie and his daughter, Michelle, remained fiercely devoted to his care, surrounding him with the same love and quiet strength that he had spent a lifetime giving to others.
In addition to Dottie and Michelle (Andre Zeisset), he is survived by his grandchildren, Ben Raymond, Miranda Raymond and her partner, Andrew Rogers, Morgan (Zach) Johnson, Aaron White, Seth White, and Zach White and his fiancée, Taryn Wallace; two great-grandchildren, Clay and Beau Johnson; along with many extended family members and friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Geraldine Krause; a brother-in-law, Darrell Krause; a niece, Audrey Rodgers; a great-niece, Emma Schildroth; and a special cousin, Carol Pritchard.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Crawford Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
