Alton--Kenneth Wayne Elsner, “My Buddy”, went to Heaven to be with the Lord on July 26, 2017 at 10:24 a.m.
He is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley Gage, Mary and Lynn Hotuiz and Harold Elsner, all of Alton; a sister-in-law, Darlin Elsner of Anna, IL. He had one niece and her husband, Venessa (Your Buddy) and Pete Nasello of Alton; his nephews Noah Elsner of Hurst, IL, Michael Elsner of Glenallen, MO, Phillip Elsner of Marion, IL, Steven Elsner of Anna, IL, and Mark David Elsner; special great niece Rita Nasello and special great nephew, Mark Nasello, both of Alton; and 9 additional great nieces and nephews; and three great-great nieces and nephews. He also had three very special girls in his life, Edna Williamson, Pamela Johnson, and Angie Johnson, and three very special caregivers that took excellent care of him, Amber, Heather, and Cindy.
Wayne was a hard-working man, working at Excel for more than 10 years. He worked at the workshops and sanitation department, never missing a day of work even if he was sick or when it was cold outside. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Poker and rummy with the family, loved westerns and old TV shows. He liked baseball but loved the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved hanging out with the family and all friends, and loved Christmas and birthday parties.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lois (Barnett) Elsner; two brothers, infant David Lee Elsner and Bill Elsner; his nephews, Larry and Billy Boy Elsner; his aunt and uncle, Helen and Dick Young; and his grandparents, who took care of him for a time, Florence “Grammy” and William “Gramps” Barnett.
Visitation will be at Paynic Home for Funerals on Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 4 p.m. until services begin at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
