Kenneth Brunstein

Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Brunstein, age 58, of East Alton, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Barnes Jewish Hospital.

He was born June 22, 1957, in Grafton, the son of Don and Linda (Presley) Brunstein. He married Heidi Graham on December 23, 2011, in Edwardsville, and she survives.

Kenny was proud to have been a member of the 1st Marine Division and served in Vietnam. He was known as “Two Dollar Kenny” because he always carried two dollar bills with him. Kenny was a free spirit, and his family was very important to him. He loved fishing and being outdoors. Kenny was always willing to lend anyone a hand.

In addition to his wife, Heidi; he is survived by his parents, Don Brunstein of Winfield and Linda Reed of Alton; two children, Kenneth Brunstein Jr. of St. Charles, and Megan Brunstein of Lake St. Louis; three step-sons, Kyle Brenner of Alton, Bobby Bextermueller of Lake St. Louis, and Jimmy Bextermueller of Cottleville; a brother and his wife, Nick and Judi Brunstein of Fairview Heights; three grandchildren, Kaylie Conner, Devin Conner, and Gavin Brunstein; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015, from 4 to 8:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.

A private family burial will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis, MO.
