Kenneth Hoef

Kenneth C. Hoef, 42, of Troy, Illinois and formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away at 8:32 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

Born April 29, 1983, at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, a son of Terese “Terri” (Klarich) Hoef of Troy and the late Frederick Hoef.

He was a graduate of Triad High School in Troy and later received his Bachelor Degree from the University of Nebraska. He had worked for the Boys and Girls Club in St. Louis and worked as a social worker in Nebraska and Illinois. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed his days of biking, hiking, crewing and kayaking. Kenneth was very outgoing, knowledgeable, caring and always there to help others.

In addition to his beloved mother, he is survived by a brother, Kevin Hoef of St. Louis; aunts and uncles, David and Nancy Klarich of Collinsville, Cheryl and Keith Arbuckle of Michigan and Renee Hoef of Michigan; great aunt, Anita Sweeney of Michigan; many cousins; other extended family and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Ann Klarich, Charles and Barb Hoef and Susan and Jerry Kekel and an uncle, Chuck Hoef.

In celebration of his life, a Memorial Mass will be held at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 200 N. Lange Street in Maryville at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, with Father Rob Johnson as celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice or to Masses.
