Kenneth G. Barnes, age 74, of Godfrey, passed away May 3, 2020 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 8, 1945 in Cape Girardeau, MO, the son of Henry Glan and Evelyn (Sawyer) Barnes. He married Carolyn Jean Beeach on February 16, 1985 in Burton, TX and she preceded him in death in 2016.
Kenneth retired as an over the road truck driver of over 45 years. He was involved with Meals on Wheels, SSSP, and volunteering with Feed The Need. Kenneth enjoyed old cars and had restored an El Camino. His interests included going to gospel music concerts, attending car shows, and collecting die cast cars.
He is survived by a daughter, Angela Conley of Bethalto; a son, James Richard; two step-children, Paul and Karen Carter Jr, and Diane Carter; four nephews; a special friend, Sandy McIntire; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn; he is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Lee Barnes; and several nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crone's and Colitis Foundation, or to American Cancer Society.
