Kenneth D. Farley, 88, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 21, 1935 in Eugene, MO, he was a son of Jessie James and Sarah Estelle (Johnston) Farley.
Ken served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1961 and was a member of the Ship’s Company of the USS Salisbury Sound. He worked as a machine adjuster for Olin Corp for 33 years, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed repairing both cars and small appliances in his spare time. He also collected aluminum cans, and his buddies in Hartford always saved their cans for him. As a young man, he was an accomplished bowler as well.
Ken married Brenda J. Grimm Aug. 20, 1963, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage. She survives in Hartford, along with his sons, Monty Farley of Wood River and Brian Farley and his wife Connie Carpenter Farley of Godfrey; his daughter, Evonda Copeland of Scottsdale, AZ; two grandchildren, Dylan and Alvina Farley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cerilla Billingsley; a brother, John E. Farley; and two nephews.
Visitation will be at Paynic Home for Funerals on Thursday, Jan. 11 from 11 a.m. until services begin at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
