Kathryn A. Stephen, 73, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born July 5, 1952 in Alton, she was the daughter of Allen J. and Alice M. (Gimlin) Halliday.
She married Mike Stephen. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2009. Mrs. Stephen retired from Traveler’s Insurance Company after many years as a workman’s comp claims adjuster.
Surviving is a daughter, Lindsay Stephen of Godfrey, a son, Bryan Galligos of Carrollton, two sisters, Theresa Martin (Duane) of Godfrey and Dawn Lewis of Alton, and five brothers, John Halliday (Wanda) of Bellevue, NE, Allen Halliday of Alton, Patrick “Doc” Halliday (Candy) of Godfrey, Matt Halliday (Lucy) of Alton, and Paul Halliday (Cathy) of Lee’s Summit, MO.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ray Lewis and a sister-in-law, Sandy Halliday.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at the Anchor of Hope Fellowship Church, 503 Milton Road, Alton, IL.
Memorials may be made to All God’s Children Shall Have Shoes.
