Kathryn L. Meininger, 91, passed away at 12:27 am on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Gillespie.
She was born on August 23, 1922 in Jackson County, IL, the daughter of Arch and Alma (Mueller) Yearian.
She married Leroy Arthur Meininger on November 8, 1941 in Murphysboro, IL. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2003.
Kathryn was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, and was involved in the Ladies Aid. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Steven and Janet Meininger of Plainview, Jerry and Dolly Meininger of Alton and Darrel and Linda Meininger of Bunker Hill; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Lori Crowson, Erik and Cathy Jo Meininger, Terry and Chrissy Meininger, Jason Meininger, Jeff and Kristi Meininger, Kelly and Don Giertz and Dawn Thornton & Cody; seven great grandchildren, Megan, Jake, Jacob, Claire, Andrew, Caitlyn and Alex; two step grandchildren and a spouse, Josyane Bartello, and Marci & Dan Carter, two step great grandchildren and spouse, Alexandria & Taylor Cullison and Elias Carter; two step great great grandchildren, Blake & Lauren Cullison and a sister, Alma Zimmerman of Murphysboro, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Carolyn Sue Schuessler, a granddaughter, Julie Schuessler, a brother, Archie Yearian and a young sister, Alice.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday, February 3, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 11 am on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastors Mark Hofferber and Willard Meyer officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
