Kathryn “Kay” Heaton, 75, of Fosterburg, went to be with the Lord at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born July 29, 1942 in Highland, IL, she was the daughter of the late Roy Hanvey and Frances (Kurmann) Hanvey Becker. Kay was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Company from 1960-1991. In 1972, she was the first woman in the State of Illinois to be promoted to the outside working forces as an installer/repairman. She also worked part-time at Christian Hospital Northeast as a PBX operator for 12 years. Her favorite past time was playing with her dogs and working on ceramics. Her home away from home was Las Vegas! She is survived by her only son, Chris Heaton and her only brother, Wayne R. Hanvey. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
