Katherine Geisler
Alton | Save
Katherine Jane Nordyke Geisler, 87, went to be with the Lord at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She passed peacefully at home with her family at her bedside.
Born August 15, 1936, in Princeton, MO, she was the daughter of Christian and Lovine Martin Nordyke.
She was a member at Harmony Baptist Church, formerly Clifton Baptist Church, for 50 years. She worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company until it closed, and she retired from Bethalto Schnucks in 2010. She loved God, her family, and a good piece of pie. She enjoyed watching the Cardinals play baseball, and her Watergate Salad was a staple dish at church and family gatherings. She insisted on sharing her cookies with the great-grandchildren every visit. She loved listening to hymns and found comfort in knowing she would be reunited with her husband and son when the Lord called her home.
She married Charles W. Geisler on March 19, 1954. After 56 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on December 22, 2010.
She is survived by her son David Geisler and his wife Kathy of Hardin; daughter Sherri Locke and her husband John of Wood River; granddaughter Tiffany Geisler; a grandson and his wife, Joshua and Sara Geisler; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Lucas, Zoey, Ann, Solon, Kaleb, and Amberlynn; her brother and his wife, Roland and Margaret Nordyke, a very special niece Karen Lamey; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sons, Chris Allen, Darrell Wayne, Charles Dean, and Roland Dwayne Geisler; her brothers, Frank Nordyke, Richard Nordyke, Francis Nordyke; and a sister, Dorothy Roy.
Thank you to BJC Hospice, especially Leona and Shameeka.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Gent Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Harmony Baptist Church, 3014 W. Delmar, Godfrey. Pastor Jeff Short will officiate. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
