Karl Martin Markovich, 75, of Granite City, IL passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born to the late Frank and Gladys (Bardsley) Markovich in Madison, IL on October 31, 1946.
Karl joined the Navy and served for 4 years before he became a cabinet maker. He married Alice Hahne on November 8, 1996, in Edwardsville, IL. Karl was a Scout Master for Troop 15 in Granite City. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, which always brought a smile to his face. He loved watching western and cowboy movies as well as fishing and camping.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Markovich; three sons: Karl (Rebecca) Markovich of Peoria, IL, Eric (Ann) Markovich of Peoria, IL, Christopher Markovich of West Palm Beach, FL; and a son-in-law, Jack Hollis of Atlanta, GA; 3 daughters: Angela ( Mike) DeBree of Jupiter, FL, Katherine (David) Eddy of Millstadt, IL and Jennifer (Tim) Mayfield of Bethalto, IL; 17 grandchildren: 6 great-grandchildren; a brother Steven Markovich and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Aside from his parents, Karl is preceded in death by a daughter: Patricia Hollis; 3 brothers: Frank Markovich, Jr, Nicholas Markovich, and William Campbell; and a sister-in-law, Linda Markovich.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Wojstrom Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 12, 2022, with burial to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Siteman Cancer Center for Small Cell Lung Cancer or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
