Karen Jo (Kyro) Travis, 82, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Friday, February 9, 2024. Karen was born October 25, 1941, in Edwardsville, Illinois to the late Walter John and Stella Catherine (Rapacz) Kyro.
Karen was a loving, giving, strong, kind, and selfless person, who always put others before herself. She was generous with her time and resources, and always made sure everyone had what they needed. She had a remarkable memory and never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or holiday. She loved all people and would strike up a conversation with anyone; she never met a stranger. Her beautiful smile and loving heart will be missed by her entire family and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Stella Kyro; her adoring husband, Roy C. Travis, Sr.; her sisters, Dolores Romatoski, Rose Leach Newman, and her twin sister, Kathy Long.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Roy C. (Kathy) Travis, Jr., of Granite City, Illinois, Jim ( Rosa Speaker) Travis, of Granite City, Illinois, and Annette (John) Hannel, of Edwardsville, Illinois; her grandchildren, Brandon Hannel and Matthew Hannel; a brother, Walter “Butch” (Arlene) Kyro, of Edwardsville, Illinois; a sister, Donna (Ralph) Jackson, of Glen Carbon, Illinois; an honorary daughter, Carmen Kruschik, of Edwardsville, Illinois, whom she loved and viewed as a second daughter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that she loved, thought of and prayed for daily.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Rd., Glen Carbon, Illinois.
Funeral: Services will be held at 12 Noon, Thursday February 15, 2024, at the funeral home with Father Robert Jallas officiating. Interment will follow in Buck Road Cemetery, Maryville, Illinois.
