Karen S. Harmon, 76, of Bethalto, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 9:34 pm at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on January 23, 1942, Alton, IL, the daughter of the late George B. and Sarah M. (Cooper) Neumann, both preceded her in death. Karen married Jan C. Harmon on March 6, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. He survives.
Karen took a break from homemaking and worked as a parts manager for Helmkamp’s Auto Service for six years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. Family was most important to her. She also loved traveling, camping, fishing and all the friends made along the way. She accepted everyone and those that met her loved her and her quick and charming wit! She never met a challenge she wouldn’t take on and there was never a more determined lady.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Harder of Overland Park, KS and Jana Harmon of Bethalto.
Graveside services will be held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11 am. Pastor Mark Hofferber will officiate. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to 5A’s Animal Shelter in Alton and/or Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes Jewish Hospital
