June Kochersperger

June Lavelle Kochersperger, nee Tomlinson, 97, of Alton, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Troy, IL, at the home of her daughter. She was born June 7, 1919 in Alton. June retired from Illinois State Bank of East Alton after 27 ½ years as a proof operator. She married Edward J. Kochersperger “Kokie” on May 15, 1945. He died April 6, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her father, Leroy Tomlinson, grandmother and grandfather, Minnie and George Tomlinson, who raised her, a brother Darvin “Bud” Tomlinson, half brother, Charles “Chuck” Tomlinson, a nephew Donald Tomlinson, and a great granddaughter, Autumn Lynn Hopkins. Surviving are her two daughters, Terry (Mike) Klopfer, Tommye (Bob) Hopkins, Grandchildren, Brian Hopkins, Nikki (Lyle) Kern, Kaye (Wayne) Snyder, Sarah (John) Eyer, Kelly (Richard) McCreary, great grandchildren Zachary and Josh Kern, Jacob and Russell Hopkins, Emily and Seth Auten, Blake and Mackenzie Eyer, Adie, Ashlyn and Kahli McCreary, and a very special niece, Linda (Tomlinson) Knife of Columbia, MO. She was an avid horse lover and rider. Her grandfather, George Tomlinson was a well known blacksmith and horse trainer in the Alton area. Her great grandfather David Tomlinson was the first mayor of East Alton. She also loved camping, bowling and watching football. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Tom Olney will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society or to the Hospice of Southern Illinois (Orange North).
