Julia A. Mulrean, 84, died at 2:22 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. She was born May 28, 1935, in Alton the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (Brinkman) Droste. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a graduate of Marquette Catholic High School. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital and St. Anthony’s Hospital for many years. On October 4, 1958, in Godfrey, she married John Andrew Mulrean and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Mulrean of Godfrey and Patti Maag (Ramon) of Kane, two sons, John P. Mulrean (Kathy) of Godfrey and Michael V. Mulrean (Georgia) of Brighton, eleven grandchildren; Jennifer and Melissa Mulrean, Michael Mulrean (Heather), Lisa Stanford (Jeremy), Sarah, Katie, Jessica, David, Emily, Leighann and Cassidy Maag, one great-grandchild, Stella Stanford, one brother, Paul Droste of Alton and one sister, Gertrude Droste of Godfrey. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four infant children, three brothers, and five sisters. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. All mourners to meet at the church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Father Paul Nguyen OMV will officiate.
