Judith Schaake

Judith Ann Schaake, 73, formerly of Jerseyville, died at 10:15 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Robings Manor in Brighton.She was born in Jerseyville on August 9, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Paul Roscoe and Louise (Schroeder) Stone.Judy grew up in Jerseyville, and was a 1962 graduate of Jersey Community High School.For nearly 33 years, she was employed as an insurance billing clerk at Alton Memorial Hospital.   Being the literal definition of a "people person", Judy could not remain still, so after retirement she began working at the Alton Belle as a clerk in guest services.   It was there that she was able to stay in contact with many people, and reacquaint herself with long lost friends and classmates.She is survived by a daughter and son in-law, Tisa and Greg Tite of Godfrey; a son, Jeff Schaake of Roxana; two grandchildren, Heath Tite of Godfrey and LynziSchaake of Jerseyville; a brother and sister in-law, Greg and Marti Short of Jerseyville; and a sister, Jackie Short of Springfield, Il.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janet (Stone) Daniels on Aug. 19, 2010.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton, with Father Jason Stone officiating.Burial will take place in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to her grandsons 8th grade class at St. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Alton, to assist with their class trip to New York City.
