Joyce Ariel Moody, 92, died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Integrity of Wood River.
Born March 22, 1926 in Alton, she was the daughter of Dwight Lyman and Christine Rosella (Wiley) Moody. Joyce graduated from Alton High School in 1945 and from the AMH School of Nursing in 1948. She spent a year working in OB after graduation and then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
Joyce also worked at Lake Shore Drive Methodist Hospital in Chicago before a 25-year medical mission calling to India from 1956 to 1981 where she worked at Burrows Memorial Hospital in Assam, India. Joyce was a member of Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton.
Surviving is a brother and sister-in-law Ted and Mary Moody of Apple Valley, CA, two sisters, Virginia Ennis of Alton and Pauline Scheurer of Godfrey and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Pastor Greg Linscott will officiate. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brown Street Baptist Church, Baptist Mid-Missions, or a charity of choice.
