Joyce Ann Sherwood, 57, of Wood River, IL, passed away at 12:26 p.m. Thurs. Feb. 16, 2017 at O.S.F. St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, IL.
She was born Feb. 9, 1960 in Alton, IL to the late Medford & Beatrice (Hudson) Cox.
On July 2, 1992, she and Ellison Sherwood were married in Edwardsville, IL. He survives in Wood River. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband of 24 years, she is survived by 2 daughters: Teresa Sherwood of Wood River and Kathryn “Katie” Sherwood of Alton; 2 sons: Shawn Sherwood of Wood River and Jason Sherwood of Alton; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and 3 brothers: David Michael Cox of Wood River, Jerry Lee Cox of Jerseyville and James Hudson of Lakeland, FL.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gary Cox and Buddy Cox and a beloved nephew, Clifford “Scotty” Cox.
