Joy A. Edwards, 88, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

She was born January 13, 1938, in Virginia, Minnesota, a daughter of the late Delbert and Frances (Bargel) Lampher.

Joy dedicated many years of service to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Granite City, where she worked in both the dietary department and security before her retirement. She continued her passion for helping others through her work with Addus Home Health for several years.

She was a faithful member of First United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed being active with the Red Hat Ladies. Joy found great happiness in crafting, shopping, and thrifting, and she never passed up the chance to explore a good yard sale. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be deeply treasured.

She is survived by her three sons, Curt (Cathy) Edwards of The Villages, Florida, Brad (Terry Pyson) Edwards of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Brian (Linda) Edwards of Granite City; five grandchildren, Amy (Richard) Lutkus, Eric (Megan) Edwards, Craig (Melissa) Edwards, Emily Edwards, and Melissa Edwards; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Oliver, Natalie, and Lucy Edwards; a sister, Lois (Bill) Swigert and their daughter, Lynn Lanham of Foley, Alabama; former daughter-in-law, Lucy; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband, Lloyd L. Edwards whom passed away on October 7, 2006 and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Delberta (John) Taylor and Dolores (Ron) Butler, and her very special friend, Thomas “Bud” Cathey.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at First United Presbyterian Church, 2160 Delmar Avenue in Granite City, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 noon, with Reverend Darnell Tingle officiating. Joy had a special desire for everyone in attendance to wear bright colors to her celebration.

Joy will be laid to rest with her husband at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Memorials may be made to First United Presbyterian Church or to T.C.A.A.H. Special Olympics. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.irwinchapel.com.
