Joshua Kopp

Joshua Edward Kopp, 37, died unexpectedly at 5:20 a.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2026 in Jerseyville.

He was born on August 9, 1988 in Alton, Illinois, the son of Brian Kopp and Shannon (Standefer) Taylor.

Joshua was employed as a cook at Hawg Pit BBQ, where he was able to share one of his greatest passions in life - cooking. Whether he was in the kitchen preparing meals, spending time fishing, or working on vehicles, Joshua found joy in the simple things and in being surrounded by those he cared about most.

Above all else, his children meant the world to him. He treasured the time he spent with them and with his family and friends, creating memories that will now be held closely by all who knew and loved him. Joshua also had a generous heart and was the kind of person who would help anyone whenever he could, never hesitating to lend a hand to someone in need.

He is survived by his father and step-mother, Brian and Sara Kopp of Godfrey; his mother and step-father, Shannon and Charles Gregory Taylor of Granite City; his four children, Hayleigh Kopp, Chloey Kopp, Paiton Kopp and Everleigh Kopp, all of Jerseyville; his bonus children, Skyler and Waylon Benson; a brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Marcie Kopp of Fidelity; his significant other, Tristan Tuey of Jerseyville; along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Charles Jacob “C.J.” Taylor on June 1, 2023.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Crawford Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the family, in care of the funeral home, for the benefit of his children.
