Josephine Joan Trosley, 88, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison, Iowa.
She was born March 2, 1922 in Alton to Antonio and Gaetana (Albani) Ramondi.
Her marriage to Joseph Anthony Trosley was on Jan. 23, 1945 at Camp Gordon, Ga. He preceded her in death Sept. 19, 1989.
Josephine lived in Alton until her late teens, when her family moved to Wood River, where she and her husband remained and raised their family. In 2006, she joined her son, Father Tony Trosley, in Nauvoo. She had been a member of St. Mary’s Church in Alton and St. Bernard’s Church (Holy Angels Church) in Wood River, where she was active in St. Ann’s Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. Most recently, she was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother, and she was devoted to her Catholic faith.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen A. (Linda) Trosley of Freeport, Ill. and Father Anthony Trosley of Nauvoo; one daughter-in-law, Rhonda Trosley of Wood River; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Scott) Croom, Amy, Nathan, Ryan, Jordan, and Tory Trosley; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Raymond T. Trosley on Jan. 29, 2010; and a sister, Catherine DeSalvo.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 15 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. A Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Apr. 16 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River.
Burial will be at Woodland Hill Cemetery in Wood River.
Memorials may be made to Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) and Masses for deceased members of the Trosley family.
