Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Joseph Paul Haar Sr., 76, of Alton, Illinois, completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960 – 1964. He was a member of the Local 90 Cement Masons and belonged to St. Patrick’s and St. Ambrose Churches.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of 54 years. Also surviving are his 5 children and their spouses: Joe, JoAnne Curvey (Vernon), Michael (Sarah), Derek (Dee), Louise Haar-Chapman (Jason), his 11 grandchildren, Rachel, Joshua, Haley, Joseph, Kalyn, Emily, Michael D, Matthew, Samantha, Claudia and Atticus, one great grandchild due in April 2017, and his Uncle Charles Young and Aunt Shirley Haar.
Joe loved his God, his family, and his garden. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister. The family would like to thank the BJC Infusion Center, Hospice and Elias, Kallal, Schaaf for their excellent care of their cherished loved one.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, November 16th from 4:00 – 5:00 pm at St. Ambrose Church in Godfrey. A funeral mass will follow at 5:00 pm.
Joe’s inurnment will be at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery at 11:30 am on November 17th with full military honors.
