Joseph M. Cecchini, 74, passed away peacefully in his home Saturday June 10, 2017.
He was born on March 25, 1943 in Bronx, New York, the son of Ebano and Josephine (Morello) Cecchini.
He married Cynthia Biros-Shannon on July 1, 1977 in Godfrey.
Joseph worked for the Local 553 as a pipe fitter for 35 years, retiring in 2003. He was a car enthusiast, loved watching car races, cooking and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia Cecchini; two sons, Rudy (Ivy) Cecchini of Brighton, and Joseph Michael Cecchini Jr. of New Jersey; a daughter, Angie Shannon of East Alton; two grandchildren, Alivia and Gia Cecchini; and one sister, Louise Lippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kathy Ann Cecchini, and sister Mary Grigione.
Visitation will be from 10 am until Funeral Mass at 11 am on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto with Father Tom Liebler officiating.
