Joseph “Joey” Roscoe Johnson, age 34 of Collinsville, IL, born May 12, 1988, in Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at his residence.
Joey attended Collinsville High School and studied law enforcement at Southwestern Illinois College. He worked as a security guard at FanDuel Sportsbook and Horse Racing in Collinsville. He was an avid St. Louis sports fan, and passionate about horse racing and working the Kentucky Derby. He loved fishing and golf with Grandpa Tim and his dad, and anything with his best friend, Jimmy McComas, and their group of friends.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Roscoe and Dolores Johnson.
Surviving are his father, Mark (Joan) Johnson of Collinsville; mother, Denise (nee Pirie) (Darron) Millsap of Cuba, MO; maternal grandparents, Norma and Tim McKay; two brothers: Matthew Taylor, Daniel Millsap; a sister, Daisy Millsap; two step-brothers: Rob Hayes and Zach (Holly) Hayes; a step-sister, Susie (Anthony) Kerley; uncle, Mike Johnson; best friend, Jimmy McComas; and many friends and extended family.
Memorial visitation will be 3 – 6 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL. Memorial service will follow at 6 p.m.
