Joseph "Jody" Alan Batson, 61, of Bethalto, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
He was born on December 26, 1963, in Springfield, IL, the son of Roger J. and Peggy-Jo (Ingram) Batson.
A 1982 graduate of Roxana High School, Jody went on to work at Alton Mental Health Center and later spent many years serving others at the Veteran's Coming Home Center in Springfield, MO. He was a devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto and proudly served as a 3rd Degree Knight with the Wood River Knights of Columbus.
Jody loved the outdoors - especially hunting, fishing, and soaking in nature. But above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and many friends.
He is survived by his loving mother, Peggy-Jo Batson; his brother, Patrick (Jeannie) Batson of Belleville; his sister, Linda Heinz of Bethalto; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger J. Batson, and his brother, Jimmy Heinz.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Father Chris Uhl, O.M.V., at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to 5A's and/or Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
