Jonathan Lawrence Yancey, 54, died at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at his home in Godfrey. Born September 29, 1963 in Springfield, IL, he was the son of Robert L. and Earlene (Waggoner) Yancey. He worked for E5 Enterprises, Jon loved gardening, art and music. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Vicki Yancey of Fosterburg and their children, Robert L. Yancey (his girlfriend, Carolyn Sato) of Alton, and Joseph A. Yancey (Andrea) of Godfrey; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Douglas Leavell of Ft. Collins, CO and their children, Stephanie Earlene (Leavell) Price (James Price) of San Pedro, CA, and Clayton George Leavell of Temple City, CA. Also surviving is his girlfriend, Kim Willis of Godfrey and his beloved dog, Lobo. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial visitation will be from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Private burial will be at Brighton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Nature Institute.
