John Wayne Plummer, 53, formerly of the Dow and Elsah areas, died suddenly at 11:49 a.m., Saturday September 1, 2018 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Highway 94 in St. Charles County, Mo.
He was born in Jerseyville on August 22, 1965, and was the son of Melvin and Mary Lou (Huff) Plummer.
Shortly after graduating with the Class of 1983 of Jersey Community High School, Lewis & Clark Community College and Ranken Technical College, John began employment with Olin Corp. in East Alton where he would remain for the next 31 years, and currently was working as a chrome plater.
He was no stranger to commitment, as he cherished his 31 year marriage to his wife and best friend, the former Crystal Hall. The two married on June 21, 1987 at the Newbern Assembly of God officiated by the late Rev. William Turner. Together they have built a loving relationship and many cherished memories.
Surviving are his wife, Crystal Plummer of Godfrey; a daughter, Tasha (Plummer) Price, and her fiance' Robert Meyer of Bethalto; two granddaughters, Ella and Lillie; two brothers, Tim Plummer of Jerseyville and Paul Plummer of Summerville; a brother in-law, Joseph Gibson of Alton; his father in-law and mother in-law, Clayton and Betty Hall of Godfrey; and a sister in-law, Star Hall of Godfrey.
He was preceded in death by both parents, and a sister, Karon "Suzie" Gibson on July 3, 2018.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.
He will be laid to rest in the East Newbern Cemetery in Dow.
Memorials may be given to his family in care of the funeral home.
