John W. Richardson, 59, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012, at his residence. He was born on August 19, 1953, in Peoria, Illinois the son of the Rev. Avis (Foley) Richardson and the late David Richardson. He married Barbara Toulson on September 28, 1979, and they later divorced.
He married Kimberly Stevens on February 25, 2011, in Edwardsville, Illinois and she survives. In addition to his mother and his wife, survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Michelle D. and Shawn Woy of Oxford, Mississippi, Melissa A. and Kevin Piening of Belleville, Illinois, two grandchildren: Grayson J. Piening and Leah J. Woy, one sister and brother in law: Alisa J. and Bill Hoffman of Staunton, his uncles and aunts: Dr. Charles W. and Mary Richardson Foley of Pendleton, South Carolina, John and Marsha Richardson of Belleville, Alice Van Buren of Fulton, Missouri, Nancy Ping of O'Fallon, Illinois, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends and loved ones.
He was employed at Olin Brass as a Supervisor of Maintenance Planning and Scheduling for over 38 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one sister: Angelia J. Pfeifer, an aunt: Dr. Melva J. Foley, a great niece: Bethany A. Baker, one cousin: Jack Richardson, and two uncles: Howard Van Buren and Ivan Ping.
In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Memorial services will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
